Enstack determines the shipping fee by considering either the actual weight or volumetric weight, whichever is greater. Therefore, if a seller leaves the Product Size field empty in the product listing, Enstack will calculate the shipping fee based on the actual weight provided by the seller.
Example:
Product: Dining Table for Toddler/s product
Weight input by the seller on product listing: 15kg
Dimension input by the seller on product listing: None
Enstack will compute the shipping fee using the actual weight, which is 15kg, since no dimensions have been entered for the product.
When the logistics partner (e.g. Flash Express) measures the parcel, the measurement will be as such:
Actual weight: 15kg
Dimension of the parcel inclusive of packaging (LxWxH): 25cm x 90cm x 40cm
Volumetric weight: (35 x 100 x 50)/3500 = 26 kg
Therefore, when the logistics partner calculates the shipping fee, they would consider the volumetric weight over the actual weight. Consequently, this leads to the logistics partner charging a higher shipping fee compared to the fee calculated by Enstack.
2. Merchant inputs the inaccurate weight and dimension of the parcel
If incorrect weight or dimensions are entered (for instance, failing to account for packaging in the weight or dimension input on the product listing), the calculated shipping fee will be inaccurate. Consequently, this would result in an overcharged shipping fee.
Example:
Product: Frying pan product
Weight input by the merchant on product listing: 0.5kg
Dimension input by the merchant on product listing (not inclusive of external packaging): 30cm x 30cm x 30cm
Volumetric weight not inclusive of external packaging: (30 x 30 x 30)/3500 = 8 kg
Enstack would calculate the shipping fee based on the volumetric weight since it is higher (8 kg).
When the logistics partner (e.g. J&T Express) measures the parcel, the measurement will be as such:
Actual weight: 0.5kg
Dimension of the parcel inclusive of packaging: 32cm x 32cm x 32cm
Volumetric weight inclusive of external packaging: (32 x 32 x 32)/3500 = 9.3 kg
Therefore, when the logistics partner calculates the shipping fee, they include the volumetric weight of the external packaging, which is higher than the volumetric weight entered in the listing. As a result, this leads to the logistics partner charging a higher shipping fee compared to the fee calculated by the Enstack system
How to avoid overcharge shipping fees:
1. Please ensure that the necessary fields, such as the dimensions and weight of the product, are filled in to ensure that the correct weight is used for calculating the shipping fee.
2. Ensure that the weight and dimension of the product inputted in the product listing are filled up correctly (e.g. merchants have included the packaging into the dimension input) so that the shipping fee is calculated correctly.
3. Make sure that the weight and dimensions of the product entered in the product listing are accurately filled out. For instance, merchants should measure the dimensions of the product to ensure the correct calculation of the shipping fee.
Overcharge fees will be deducted weekly which will be reflected in your Enstack Wallet. For any Overcharge shipping fee disputes, you may file a claim by sending an email to hi@enstack.com within 7 days from the date the overcharged shipping fee is deducted.
